The cup of wine, of his life-blood, poured out for us, is surrounded by the radiance of God, by the love of God, but love is inseparable from pain.

The gold is the glory and joy of love, the dark reds and purples speak of the pain of love - the crushed grapes that become the rich wonder of wine, the life-blood poured out for us.
