Pope Francis, Sept. 2015 on the importance of learning and practising the Works of Mercy:
"Dear brothers and sisters, in this way the Church is a mother, teaching its children the works of mercy.
She has learned this path from Jesus, She has learned that this is essential for salvation. It is not enough to love those who love us. It is not enough to do good to those who do good to us.
To change the world for the better, means doing good to those who are unable to reciprocate, as the Father has done with us, in giving us Jesus."
