(now Macedonia).
Died 5th September 1997, Calcutta, India.
Beatified 19th October 2003 by Pope John Paul II.
Canonised 4th September 2016 by Pope Francis.
Feastday 5th September.
Having joined the Sisters of Loreto at 18
years of age she worked in India and dedicated herself to working with the
poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. In 1950 she founded the
Missionaries of Charity, their primary task is to love and care for the
destitute and abandoned.
Mother Teresa received numerous awards
including the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1979. In 2013 The United Nations General
Assembly designated 5th September, the anniversary of her death,
as International Day of Charity.
Banner: Dye sublimation printing on a 100% close weave, natural feel
polyester material with dowling, tulip wood end caps and gold hanging
cord. An extra depth of approx. 12" should be allowed when measuring
to allow for the hanging cord. A sample of the material can be supplied upon
request.
