St. John The Baptist - Banner BAN708
John the Baptist. Cousin of
Jesus, son of Elizabeth and Zechariah. The last and greatest of the prophets,
he marks the bridge between the Old and New Testaments and is called the
Precursor (or forerunner) of Jesus.
Feast Days:
The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist 24th June.
The Passion of Saint John the Baptist 29th August.
In those days John the Baptist
appeared in the wilderness of Judea, proclaiming, "Repent, for the kingdom
of heaven has come near." This is the one of whom the
prophet Isaiah spoke when he said,
"The voice of one crying out in
the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.' (Matt 3:1-3).

depth of approx. 12" should be allowed when measuring to allow for the
