St. Emilie de Rodat - Lectern Frontal LF996
Artwork by the Benedictine Sisters of Turvey Abbey
Emilie de Rodat, religious foundress.
Feastday: 19th September.
1787 to 1852 canonized April 1950.
She became a nun at 18 and learned that she had a
vocation teaching poor children. She began teaching in her room at St. Cyr
which was the start of the Congregation of the Holy Family of Villefranche.
Her foundation expanded its activity to young women
and girls with difficulties, orphans and the elderly. She established 38
institutions before she died.
A diary found after her death showed that she had
mystical revelations.
