The flag of Devon is dedicated to St. Petroc.
Born in Wales in the 6th century and educated in an Irish monastery
Petroc sailed to spread Christianity and was carried by winds and tides
to Padstow, Cornwall. Together with others he built a Celtic monastery
from where he travelled throughout Cornwall, Wales and Brittany
preaching the Gospel.
Feastday: 4th June.
