Wilfrid, Bishop.
Born in Northumbria circa 634 and educated at Lindisfarne. He championed
the customs of the Roman Church at the Synod of Whitby. He was Bishop
of York but also did missionary work in England and the Low Countries.
He founded churches and monasteries under the Rule of St. Benedict. He
was also a patron of the arts. Feast Day 12th October.
