Feast day: 3rd August (Hexham and Newcastle RC
Diocese). 5th August Church of England.
Helped establish Christianity as the religion
of Britain. He invited monks from Iona to evangelise hiskingdom which extended
from the Forth to the Humber; he gave Lindisfarne (Holy Island) to St. Aidan
for his community.
