St. Peter, Apostle, martyr.

Peter (born Simon), brother of St. Andrew, both of whom were fishermen. Prince of the Apostles, chosen by Jesus to be the leader of the Twelve.

[Jesus] saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for
they were fishermen. And Jesus said to
them, “Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they
left their nets and followed him. (Mk 1:16-20).
Jesus said,
"I tell you, you are Peter, (Gk. Petros), and on this rock I will build my
church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it." (Matt
16:18).
